MUDAVADI calls for the suspension of IFMIS after glaring “computer errors” in counties accounts – THUGGE and ROTICH have been stealing from counties

Thursday May 9, 2019-Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, has called for an independent forensic audit of Integrated Financial Management and Information System (IFMIS).

In a statement on Thursday, Mudavadi said senior treasury officials should also be investigated over what he termed glaring theft of public money.

Mudavadi also accused Treasury officials for “hiding behind computer errors” and called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to suspend the system until public confidence in it is restored.

“It would seem that the Treasury — either of its own volition or at someone’s behest — is in the habit of hiding funds in curious budget lines and kiting them out of the public coffers to sinister destinations.”

“The funds are not only shown as allocated, but they are also reflected as disbursed and spent. Even more worrying is that the funds have been shown as spent on budget lines that fall completely outside the remit of County governments,”Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi’s statement comes at a time governors have accused National Treasury of generating erroneous documents that misrepresent their spending in the financial year 2017/18.

Treasury reports show that Kiambu, Kakamega, Kitui Nyeri and Kirinyaga spent hundreds of millions on functions over which they lack jurisdiction.
