Kenya makes Top 10 List of highest BHANG consuming countries in Africa-See FULL LIST.

Wednesday, May 29, 2019- Kenya is among the top ten countries in Africa with the highest consumers of Bhang despite the plant being illegal.

This is according to the just-released 2019 Global Cannabis Report: Industry Outlook.

According to the report, Kenya emerged second in East Africa after Tanzania which is also fifth in Africa with 3.6 million Bhang users.

Kenya is ranked number six in Africa with 3.3 million marijuana users while Uganda comes in number eight with 2.6 million users.

Nigeria leads the continent in marijuana consumption with 20.8 million users followed by Ethiopia’s 7.1 million.

Egypt and DR Congo are ranked third and fourth with 5.9 million and 5 million users respectively.

Sudan takes seventh place with 2.7 million bhang smokers followed by Madagascar’s 2.1 million users. Ghana has 2 million marijuana users.

Countries with the least number of bhang users are Zimbabwe, Malawi, Niger and Zambia with 1.1 million, 1.2 million, 1.2 million and 1.4 million users respectively.

Bhang use and possession in Kenya is illegal and just the other day, a woman was sentenced to 30 years in prison after she was found in possession of bhang worth Sh2, 000.
