Monday May 6, 2019 - Deputy President William Ruto has thrown his weight behind National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi who is mulling the possibility of making a comeback into elective politics in 2022.
Speaking at Kigari, Embu County during a thanksgiving prayer service for Manyatta MP, John Muchiri, Ruto praised Muturi for his experience in national leadership.
He told the congregation that the County was favoured to be the home of the third most powerful person in the Government after President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself.
The DP pledged to fully support Muturi for the Governor’s position in 2022 as he angles for the Presidency.
“Akikosa ile anatafuta, nitawalaumu nyinyi wabunge (If he fails to get the position he is aspiring for, I will blame you MPs),” Ruto stated.
However, Ruto stated that there would be no direct nomination and all aspiring flag bearers for different positions would have to battle it out.
