Government warns Kenyans without HUDUMA NAMBA-You could be arrested and treated as an alien.

Friday, May 10, 2019- As the deadline for the registration of Huduma Namba draws near, the government has warned that those whose data would not have been captured in the National Integrated Identity Management System(NIIMS) risk being arrested.

These remarks were made by Tana River County Commissioner Oning’oi Ole’Sosio who stated that previous cases of insecurity in the area have revealed cases of fake identities and some members of the community give out their IDs to aid in criminal activities.

According to Ole Sosio, the Huduma Namba is necessary for efficient delivery of government services and those against it have a hidden motive.

"Last year after the abduction of an Italian volunteer by militia, we arrested one of the key suspects connected to the subsequent murder. He had an ID but when we forwarded it to the National Registration Bureau, we were told the owner of the document was deceased," he said.

This comes just days after the Ministry of Interior and Coordination denied reports that the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) had been hacked and that the data of over 2o million registered persons deleted.

The countrywide registration period is set to end on May 17 with those who will not have registered forced to visit their respective chief’s offices to get the forms.
