CONFIRMED: It is UHURU who ordered the cancellation of RUTO’s rally in Murang’a on Saturday – SABINA CHEGE tells it all

Friday May 10, 2019 - Muranga Women Representative, Sabina Chege, has confirmed that Saturday’s prayer rally in Murang’a County was cancelled after organisers received a phone call from State House, Nairobi.

Speaking on Friday, Sabina noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta is said to have asked the organisers to cancel the rally to avoid raising political temperatures in his political hotbed.

Sabina said Uhuru was of the view that the meeting will antagonize his supporters and create more rebellion in Mt Kenya.

Over 130 MPs from Jubilee Party had confirmed attendance and 11 Governors.

Deputy President William Ruto was to be the chief guest of the rally to be held in Ihura Stadium.

“Since the meeting could be seen to antagonise President Uhuru Kenyatta, it was postponed to a day that would be communicated.”

“Although there was no such an agenda, people might interpret it in the wrong way,” Sabina stated.

Another Jubilee MP, who requested anonymity, said Uhuru and his men believed that the rally would have focussed on politics, which the President has been discouraging for the last few years.

“The President called off the meeting.”

“There was panic within Government over the large number of leaders going for the prayer meeting.”

“The President was in a catch-22 and asked the DP to call off the meeting,” said the MP who is a close ally of the DP.
