Wednesday, May 29, 2019- Veteran radio presenter, Cess Mutungi, has announced her departure from Capital FM after a decade.

The Chris Kirubi owned radio station has been struggling and her exit is part of the ongoing restructuring in a bid to revive its dwindling fortunes.

Taking to twitter, Cess, who has been hosting the evening show dubbed the The Jam wrote:

@thejam984 @CapitalFMKenya Thank you for a fabulous 10 years. Thank you for your love, support and strength. It's been amazing,”

During her career, Cess has often courted controversy from ridiculing Charity Ngilu when she was Minister for Health’s CV which saw her fired to rumors of sleeping around with a popular CEO.

She would later apologize for humiliating Ngilu’ who is currently the Kitui governor.

“I regret it I have personally apologised to her but I realise now that it does not matter what we all think, when people have worked hard through the experiences of life and made it, they deserve a pat on the back,” she wrote on social media.

Besides cutting off senior presenters who no longer appeal to the youth, a reliable source intimates to us that the station has announced a 25% salary cut to all staff.

Former Citizen TV presenter Joey Muthengi has been lined up to replace Cess in the fading afternoon show that used to command a huge following.
