Thursday May 9, 2019-Machakos County Governor, Alfred Mutua, has for once praised opposition leader Raila Odinga over his role in the quest for democracy in the country.
Speaking on Radio Jambo on Thursday, the county boss noted that Raila's involvement in the push against single-party democracy during the Nyayo era is laudable.
He also hailed the former premier and all the leading political figures for their leadership, admitting that they have done a good job.
"Kama sio Raila hatungekuwa na demokrasia hapa nchini. Alifungwa miaka tisa akipigania kuboresha siasa zetu. Yeye na hawa viongozi wengine wametuongoza vizuri na wamefanya kazi nzuri (were it not for Raila, we would not be having our current democracy, he was jailed for 9 years. Raila and all the other leaders have done a commendable job)," Mutua said.
Mutua has also declared interest in the 2022 presidential race, a contest that might see him battle Raila and Deputy President William Ruto.
