Monday May 6, 2019 - Embattled Malindi MP, Aisha Jumwa, said on Sunday that she is ready to take the bullet for the sake of protecting the Mijikenda community against outsiders.
Speaking on Sunday, Jumwa said that she will not allow some politicians from outside to undermine the Mijikenda community
“I'm ready to take the bullet for the Mijikenda community,” Jumwa said.
She said over the last three elections, the Coast region has been solidly behind ODM leader, Raila Odinga’s candidature yet the area is yet to benefit from his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Jumwa, who is an ODM party rebel, said in 2022, the Coast region will have a voice and will not be sold to the highest bidder by some very few selfish politicians.
The outspoken MP spoke a day after she barred ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna from addressing mourners in Kilifi County.
As Mr Sifuna began to speak, Ms Jumwa, who was the master of ceremony, walked to the stage and grabbed the microphone from him, accusing him of “talking politics in a funeral”.
