Monday April 22, 2019-Details have allegedly emerged about why President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga chose to reconsider honouring the invite to officiate the opening of the legislative summit conference in Kisumu on Monday.

According to sources within the County Assembly Forum and the Senate leadership, the two snubbed the summit due to lavish demands by the MCAs.

MCAs demanded to be accorded respect and be given among others top of the range cars fully funded by the taxpayers and houses and the two didn’t want to have anything to do with that.

“It’s clear to us the President doesn’t want anything to do with additional luxuries to MCAs. He is not interested in that debate, especially now that his Government is implementing austerity measures,” a source in the Senate disclosed.

It was widely believed that the President’s absence together with his Deputy, William Ruto, and Opposition leader Raila Odinga was a tactical move to avoid ugly confrontation with the MCAs who were expecting nothing but to hear the President make good his earlier promise on the car grants.
