Monday April 8, 2019 - Former Sports and Culture Cabinet Secretary, Richard Echesa, has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of pretending to fight corruption yet many of his friends are thieves of public money.
Speaking on Sunday, Echesa, who was sacked by President Uhuru Kenyatta in February this year, accused the President of double standards in the war against corruption.
The former CS also took issue with the Head of State’s remarks that the war on corruption should be fought on the basis of law and not through vigilante justice.
He also said he was unfairly dismissed from the Cabinet.
“Why are others being given a chance to defend themselves while I was summarily dismissed?” Echesa asked.
Echesa was reportedly sacked for being the leader of a fake money syndicate that was unearthed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in January.
They syndicate, which was based in Ruiru, was printing billions of fake currency in shillings and dollars.
Echesa was the leader of the gang.
