Shock as MUDAVADI also dumps UHURU and RAILA and joins RUTO in opposing the looming referendum

Thursday April 4, 2019-Amani National Congress (ANC) Leader, Musalia Mudavadi, has made a U-turn on the Constitutional amendment issue, even after initially supporting the proposed referendum.

Speaking on KTN's Point Blank on Wednesday, Mudavadi stressed on the need for the Kenyan leadership and citizens to fully concentrate on fighting the runaway corruption and the health crisis before talking about the referendum issue.

The ANC leader said it is not the time to discuss matters referendum as there are better issues to be addressed, among them the biting hunger in some parts of the nation.

“When we went into the last election, ANC was very clear that there was need to review the Constitution. I think you will not be wise if you talk about referendum now. Deal with the humanitarian crisis, deal with corruption first,” Mudavadi said.

At the same time, Mudavadi seemed to agree with Deputy President William Ruto's quarters that the said changes are largely aimed at dividing leadership positions among a group of political elites.

"The way it (referendum) is being propagated it makes politicians look bad. People are dying and you want to talk about a referendum to share positions," he added.

The referendum is being spearheaded by NASA Leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, but has been vehemently opposed by Ruto.
