Thursday April 25, 2019-Deputy President William Ruto was among senior government officials who were missing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Tuesday evening when his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta was leaving to China to attend an infrastructure summit in Beijing, China.
As per the traditions, Ruto who is second in command, is supposed to accompany the president when jetting out of the country but he was missing on Tuesday evening.
Whenever the president leaves the country for an official trip, the DP takes over.
With Uhuru closely working with NASA leader, Raila Odinga, DP Ruto has openly expressed his frustrations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta did not communicate through Presidential Strategic Communication Unit that he had left the country. However, all security officers were present, with a section of Cabinet Secretaries.
An aide of Ruto said his boss failed to bid farewell to the president because he had travelled upcountry for Easter Holidays.
“He arrived back in Nairobi on Tuesday night. He was not around, but now he is in charge,”the aide said.
Uhuru and Raila Odinga, who are enjoying a good working relationship, will meet in China to attend the highly rated infrastructure summit.
Raila left the country to China on Monday.
