KHALWALE celebrates after UHURU and RAILA were denied Sh368 billion loan by China for the extension of SGR to Kisumu

Monday April 29, 2019-Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta over his Government's appetite for Chinese loans.

Speaking over the weekend, Khalwale thanked the Chinese Government for denying Uhuru and his buddy, Raila Odinga, the Sh368 billion meant to extend the SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu.

Besides, he asked Uhuru to next time follow the right procedures when negotiating for foreign loans.

This is after it emerged that Uhuru failed to involve Parliament in his pursuit of foreign loans.

"There is nothing wrong with borrowing. Just about any working economy borrows. However, why is it a challenge in making a full disclosure on the contracts in the Kenyan scenario? Why not allow local companies to be the ones implementing the projects?"

"If the borrowing is noble, why did the president not disclose to Parliament during the State of the Nation address the commitments his Government is in? I do not know. Maybe they were going to 'cut deals' in China" the former Senator posed during the interview.

Uhuru and Opposition leader Raila Odinga were in China to negotiate another loan of Sh368 billion for the construction of SGR but they were denied.
