Tuesday, April 09, 2019- A popular Jubilee blogger has been forced to apologise for spreading fake news that Kibra Member of Parliament, Kenneth Okoth is dead.
The shocking rumor saw the hardworking MP who is currently receiving treatment in Europe for colon cancer, take to twitter to assure Kenyans that he’s alive and kicking.
Taking to twitter, the legislator wrote: "I'm alive and kicking. Folks should stop killing me before my time with rumours. #TheBestIsYetToCome #IAmASurvivor #WeShallOverCome,
While issuing his apology, Polycarp Hinga claimed that he had received the news from a ‘lady cousin’
“Apologies then, I saw it on Twitter. I called a lady cousin and she said it was true. She has since gone mteja. That said I accept and apologize for my role in propagating fake news,” a tweet from Hinga read.
Meanwhile Kenyans have continued to wish the legislator quick recovery while condemning the fake news merchants.
