Sunday April 21, 2019-Makueni Senator , Mutula Kilonzo Jnr,has criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government over the borrowing spree noting that the Kenyan debt ration is at 55% compared to the GDP.
In a tweet on Saturday, Mutula Kilonzo Jnr said Kenya has surpassed the borrowing spree by 5%, adding that the Chinese debts are a threat to the Kenyan sovereignty.
Mutula noted that the people will one day challenge those decisions.
"Kenya is at 55% debt ratio to GDP . The PFM gives a threshold of 50%. These Chinese debts are a threat to our sovereignty. The people of Kenya will one day challenge these decisions," he said.
Mutula’s comment came hours after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga revealed that he will accompany President Kenyatta to China to negotiate a Sh 350 billion deal for extension of the SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu.
