Wednesday April 24, 2019-Flying Squad officers have said they have finally identified cybercriminals who stole more than Sh11 million from four ATMs in Nairobi.

Over the weekend, the criminals targeted ATMs at Kenyatta National Hospital, The Mater Hospital, Mutindwa and Kenya Cinema.

According to one officer, the number of cyber criminals, who executed the job, were three and they were using a Toyota Probox to execute their job.

The detectives obtained CCTV footage from the city where a young man was caught boarding a Probox, believed to be a taxi in South B with a rucksack.

Police suspect the man, estimated to be aged between 25 and 30, were part of a cyber gang that emptied three ATMs belonging to Barclays bank of the millions of shillings during the Easter holidays.

Flying Squad officers also revealed that the heist was an inside job and they will question senior people in Barclay Bank's IT department.

“It was an inside job and we know some of the bank employees were involved in the heist,” said an officer who requested anonymity.
