Former NLC boss, MOHAMED SWAZURI to spend Easter Holiday in jail – You can’t steal public money and enjoy holiday like other Kenyans

Thursday April 18, 2019-Former National Lands Commission (NLC) chairman, Mohamed Swazuri, will spend Easter Holiday in jail awaiting for bond ruling on Tuesday.

Swazuri and 23 others were charged at a Milimani court with corruption-related offences.

Swazuri was arrested on Wednesday by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives for stealing Sh 100 million during compensation of a parcel of land in Mombasa.

The DPP directed that Swazuri and the 23 others be charged with Conspiracy to commit an economic crime, abuse of office and financial misconduct.

Other charges that face includes fraudulent acquisition, dealing with suspect property and money laundering. 

Among those lined up for prosecution include NLC Commissioner Emma Njogu, Deputy Director Valuation and taxation Joash Oindo, Director Valuation and Taxation Salome Munubi, Director Finance Francis Mugo and advocate Catherine Chege.
