Tuesday March 5, 2019-Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), George Kinoti, is looking for former Sports Cabinet Secretary, Rashid Echesa, with an aim of arresting him for money laundering.
The DCI has launched investigations into the former CS, who was sacked from the Cabinet last week by President Uhuru Kenyatta for incompetence and gross misconduct, over his alleged connection to money laundering activities.
Echesa was exposed to money laundering by his associate, Joseph Waswa, who is linked with last week’s recovery of Ksh32 billion fake currency in Ruiru.
According to detectives, the sacked CS was in constant communication with Waswa.
A call data analysis showed that Waswa had been in communication with two other suspects, Joseph Munyao and Nancy Muthoni, and in most cases, he would call Rashid Echesa after calling the two.
DCI also believe that Echesa owns the house in Ruiru that was stashed with sh32 billion fake currency.
