Saturday March 2, 2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta may be on sacking spree and former Sports CS, Rashid Echesa, could just have been his first casualty.
The President is said to be so disappointed by the level of corruption in Kenya, especially with his Cabinet, that he called National Intelligence Service (NIS) to furnish him with reports on the corrupt CSs, whose ministries have been making headlines over questionable deals and transactions that saw Kenyans lose billions of shillings, for action to be taken.
“The President reportedly called National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director, Philip Kameru, to ask for the report on them. The NIS report was not ready, and that is how the five kept their jobs, at least for now,” confirmed the source.
“A new executive order is being worked on. The release date has not been indicated but is very soon,” the source added.
Among the CSs on the chopping board and who may find themselves any time from now include Treasury’s Henry Rotich, Simon Chulugui (Water), Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) and Mwangi Kiunjuri (Agriculture).
