He is NIS’ HILLARY MUTYAMBAI! Another one from NIS! President UHURU finally nominates the person who will succeed BOINNET

Wednesday March 13, 2019 - President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally nominated the man who will succeed Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, whose tenure ended on Tuesday.

In an Executive Order dated March 13, Uhuru nominated Hillary Mutyambai as the new inspector of general of police.

Until his appointment, Mutyambai was an Assistant Director with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and currently attached to the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).

The IG is appointed on a four-year non-renewable term.

Boinnet took over from David Kimaiyo, who resigned on December 2nd, 2014 just few hours after a terror attack that claimed 36 lives in Mandera.

Although pressure had been mounting on the President to sack him and the then Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kimaiyo denied that he had been forced to resign.

Brigadier John Waweru was appointed as the Director General of Kenya Wildlife Services.
Boinnet was appointed as a CAS in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
