Friday March 15, 2019-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has once again extended his philanthropic hand, this time towards Roselyne Akinyi, alias Mama Orange, following the death of her son.

According to Sonko, Mama Orange recorded a small video clip requesting his assistance since she was stuck and nothing was forthcoming from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Through the Sonko Rescue Team, the Governor stepped in and catered for the funeral expenses including transport.

Mama Orange thanked Sonko for her generosity in helping her accord her son a befitting burial.

I want to thank Governor Sonko for what he has done for me. This is not the first time he is helping me. He has done that several times before and I am happy now because my son will be buried,” she stated.

In April 2018, Mama Orange had also reached out to well-wishers to help offset a huge hospital bill after her two sons, both matatu drivers, were admitted at the Mbagathi hospital, one with tuberculosis and the other, meningitis.

One of her sons Victor Otieno succumbed on October 23, and ODM came to her assistance with burial arrangements.
