Amnesty International tells RUTO to resign over corruption allegations – You are the evil man behind corruption in Kenya

Friday March 29, 2019-A section of Non-Government Organisations(NGOs) have asked Deputy President William Ruto to resign over corruption allegations facing him.

Led by the Director of Amnesty International Kenya Irungu Houghton, the activists said Ruto need to quit government over links to various corruption scandals including the recent Sh21 billion dams saga.

Houghton, who was having an interview with NTV on Friday, said instead of the DP complaining that the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti was targeting him, he should resign to allow investigations.

"Leaders do resign, politicians don’t. If the DP feels he’s vulnerable and his principal is not protecting him then he should resign," Houghton said.

Houghton’s sentiments were echoed by Director of Arigatou International Mustafa Yusuf Ali who criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta following his Tuesday's impromptu visit to Ruto’s office saying even though it was meant to lessen political tension, it came at the expense of war on corruption.

"I am surprised that it’s actually news in Kenya when the President is meeting his deputy. Is Kenya a shithole country? If the Deputy President does not agree with the President, he should resign," Ali said.

However allies of Ruto led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, said the ongoing corruption fight is targeting Ruto in order to derail his 2022 presidential bid.
