It is over RUTO! See who is now supporting referendum to create Prime Minister’s position ahead of 2022 and the handshake?

Sunday February 3, 2019-KANU Secretary General, Nick Salat, has disclosed that his party supports the idea of Kenya holding a referendum to amend sections of the current Constitution in order to expand the executive.

Speaking in Segero, Uasin Gishu County, on Friday, Salat emphasized the need for an all-inclusive Government where the big four agenda will be fairly attained across the country.

“We are not saying that the constitution is bad, but it is high time we highly review our Constitution in a transparent and credible manner so as to make devolution easy to be embraced and felt by all Kenyans regardless of their social class, religion, economic status or political affiliations”, said Salat.

At the same time, Salat noted that KANU is fully supporting the handshake and urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader, Raila Odinga, to continue working together for the betterment of the nation.

“The handshake was a good thing, it calmed the political temperatures which were rising day in day out, that is why all leaders should work together to embrace the handshake”, he added.

Deputy President William Ruto is on record opposing the referendum to expand the executive, saying the move will increase the wage bill further.

His supporters have also opposed the handshake, claiming it was undermining the DP.
