Monday February 11, 2019 - Interior Cabinet
Secretary, Fred Matiangi, has issued a tough warning to leaders who have developed
a habit of loitering around the country without offering meaningful development
to Kenyans.
Speaking in Gachuba, Kisii County, on Friday, Matiangi who is also the
chairman of the National Development Implementation and Communication
Committee, said all politicians must adhere to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s order
of less politicking and more development.
“Time has come for us to desist from engaging in unnecessary political
rhetoric and instead focus on delivering to our people. It is serious business
and we must do it,” Matiangi said.
Earlier, Gusii leaders led by Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri lauded President
Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to elevate Dr Matiang'i as the Development Cabinet
Sub Committee chairman – a team that will oversee all National Government
projects.
In his speech, Prof. Ongeri also asked Matiang'i to obey elders and often
seek advice in his new role as the most powerful Minister.
"When you go to Nairobi, remind the president that we are thankful.”
“This is the best way to appreciate the community.”
“As your elders, always learn to consult from us all the
time,” Ongeri told Matiangi.
The Kenyan DAILY POST
I agree with sentiments of appreciation by Prof. Ongeri but totally disagree with the impression of looking at
through a Gussi lence ! We should all see Mtiangi as a competent Kenyan.
