Shock as OTIENDE AMOLO ‘dumps’ RAILA and joins RUTO as he rubbishes DAVID MURATHE’s move to block RUTO’s 2022 bid

Tuesday January 8, 2019-In unlikely turn of events, Rarieda MP, Otiende Amolo, has come to the defence of Deputy President William Ruto, saying he has every Constitutional right to vie for the Presidency come 2022 just like any other Kenyan.

Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, Amolo rubbished off former Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe's move to have Deputy President William Ruto barred from vying for the Presidency in 2022 on the pretext that he would have already served his two terms alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According Amolo, who is also a reputable lawyer, it is legally unconstitutional to bar Ruto from vying for President on the basis of having served as a Deputy President alongside Uhuru Kenyatta as Head of State.

"While legally unconstitutional, there is no strict bar that stops William Ruto from vying for the Presidency in 2022.”

“This motion became before the National Assembly by my colleague Kisumu Central MP, Fred Ouda, and I opposed it because it was unconstitutional," said Amolo.

"In our Constitution, there is the issue of collective Presidency in which the President serves collectively with his Deputy and the Cabinet.”

“Therefore, unlike a Vice President in the previous Constitution, the Deputy President has more power than in previous administrations."
