It was all PR gimmick as DPP NOORDIN HAJI drops all charges for NYS looters - He has no evidence against them even after fleecing NYS

Monday January 7, 2019 - The war against corruption has been dealt a severe blow after the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, dropped all fraud charges against ten suspects in the Ksh 60 million National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

Appearing in court on Monday, the DPP told the court that he didn’t have enough evidence against the ten suspects but noted that should there be new evidence against the discharged persons, they would be rearrested.

The case was being heard before Milimani Court Principal Magistrate, Peter Ooko, where charges were read afresh to the remaining suspects.

However, former Youth and Gender Affairs Principal Secretary, Lillian Omollo, was not among the freed suspects as the DPP insisted that he has a water-tight case against her.

According to DCI detectives and the DPP, there was an existing elaborate scheme which involved all level of staff, where fictitious invoices would be presented to the NYS with the help of junior staff, and payments quickly approved by senior managers and Omollo.
