I don’t need UHURU's endorsement in 2022 – angry RUTO tells MURATHE and TUJU- I will win without him!!

Thursday January 3, 2019-Deputy President William Ruto has responded to claims by Jubilee Party chairman, Raphael Tuju, that the party has no preferential candidate during the 2022 presidential contest.

Speaking in his home in Sugoi when he met delegates from Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega counties on Wednesday, Ruto said he doesn't depend on endorsement from any politician, an indication that he's prepared to move on without the president's support.

"You don't need endorsement for this seat. I am ready to face them because the people will decide. In politics, you don't sit and wait to be endorsed by someone else,” Ruto ,who was visibly angry said.

On referendum, which Uhuru and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga are supporting, Ruto said he will only support the plebiscite if it reduces the high wage bill.

He also clarified that he will not support referendum to reduce wards, constituencies or counties.

“I will support everything they want but not reduction of wards, constituencies or counties. We should be talking about increasing of resources to those devolved units," he said.
