Here is MUTULA KILONZO’s explanation on whether the Constitution allows RUTO to vie for the Presidency in 2022! This young man is a legal wizard

Monday January 7, 2019 - Makueni Senator, Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, has joined other Kenyans in sharing their thoughts about the debate on whether the Constitution allows Deputy President William Ruto to vie for the Presidency in 2022.

Last week, former Jubilee Party Vice chairman, David Murathe, threatened to move to the Supreme Court to seek interpretation of the constitution on whether Ruto is allowed to vie for the Presidency in 2022.

“Nobody can be Deputy President for more than two terms.”

“Why does it (Constitution) say that? Because another article also says nobody can be President for more than two terms.”

“And if the President is not there, who becomes the President? His deputy,” Murathe said during a burial in Rarieda on Saturday.

Mutula, who is a brilliant lawyer, has now weighed in on Murathe’s remarks and said nobody can stop Ruto from becoming President in 2022.

"If the law intended to bar a deputy president from vying as president, nothing would be easier than to say so expressly. That’s the Golden rule of interpretation. Words must be given an ordinary meaning unless it leads to an absurdity," Mutula said.

He concluded by saying Murathe is only blowing hot air and will not stop Ruto from becoming the fifth President of Kenya.
