KIKUYU community leaders support DAVID MURATHE‘s statement – Hatuna Deni Na Mtu in 2022!

Friday December 28, 2018 - A section of Kikuyu community leaders have supported remarks by former Gatanga MP, David Murathe, who said Mt Kenya region had no Memorandum of Understanding with anybody regarding the 2022 Presidential elections.

Murathe, who was speaking during the Maragoli Cultural Festival in Mbale, Vihiga County, on Wednesday, said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, had shared power equally for two terms and should both retire.

Though Murathe's statement has generated a political tsunami in Jubilee Party, some leaders from Central Kenya have supported his statement.

Former Maragua MP, Elias Mbau, said that the Kikuyu community will not succumb to blackmail into blindly supporting any candidate.

Mbau strongly backed Murathe saying that Kenyans must have the freedom to choose their leaders without being boxed into a corner.

“Our communities do mistrust each other because they are evil. They do so when they read evil in their leaders...The politics of extortion, corruption and arrogance must be opposed by all. We would better die on our feet than live on our knees,” Mbau said, calling a constitutional referendum a must.

Ruto is considered as the face of the anti-referendum push backed by key opposition figures.
