Sunday December 2, 2018 - President Uhuru Kenyatta joined his Tanzanian counterpart, John Pombe Magufuli, to launch a One Stop Border post at Namanga.
According to a statement by State House, the post will be jointly manned by customs and immigration officials from both Kenya and Tanzania.
The border post will facilitate ease of movement for goods and people between the two countries.
Surprisingly, the meeting comes barely 2 days after the conclusion of the inaugural International Blue Economy conference that was held in Nairobi in which Magufuli conspicuously snubbed for obvious reasons despite having been invited by Uhuru in person.
The border post will go a long way in mending shaky diplomatic relations between the two neighbours.
In 2015, Kenya stopped 5 lorries carrying wheat flour from Tanzania and were stranded at the Namanga border; a move that prompted Magufuli to also act in kind by burning chicks from Kenya as well as confiscating Kenyan cows.
