Embattled OKOTH OBADO sacks his Cabinet members a day after returning to work following his release from remand over illegal guns


Wednesday November 21, 2018 - Embattled Migori Governor, Okoth Obado, returned to work at the County headquarters yesterday after being released from prison following an incident where a cache of guns were found in his house.

Obado was received by his deputy among other County staff and proceeded to preside over the County operations.

However, he shocked his workers during the morning meeting after he announced changes at the County Government.

Surprisingly his Cabinet reshuffle comes barely three weeks after a similar reshuffle was done on Monday, October 29th.

In the changes, Obado appointed Valentine Ogongo as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Agriculture while Elijah Gambere is the new Chief Officer.

Immediate former Chief Officer in the Lands docket, Edward Kabaka, was moved to Water in the same capacity whereas Rebecca Maroa was appointed the committee member.

County Secretary Christopher Rusana was, however, retained.

Other changes include;-

1. Finance CECM- Scholarstica Obiero
Chief Officer – Samuel Omuga

2. Health CECM- Iscar Oluoch
Chief Officer – Dalmas Oyugi

3. Roads CECM- Moses Chamwada
Chief Officer – Samuel Ochieng

4. Public Service Management CECM Ag:- Elijah Odhiambo
Chief Officer – Roselyn Atieno Otieno

5. Education CECM - Samson Maginga
Chief Officer – Mary Midida

6. Trade CECM-Sheila Gati Mwita
Chief Officer – Ag. Samuel Ochieng

7. Lands CECM Elijah Odhiambo
Chief Officer – Ag. Edward Kabaka

8. Environment CECM Ag:- Moses Chamwada
Chief Officer – Joshua Ngwala

9. County Secretary – Christopher Rusana
