UHURU was protecting HASSAN WARIO from prosecutions over RIO OLYMPICS SCANDAL- State House source

Tuesday October 16, 2018-President Uhuru Kenyatta was among State House operatives who were shielding former Sport Cabinet Secretary, Hassan Wario from prosecutions over 2016 Rio Olympics Scandal where over Sh 55 million taxpayers money was stolen, a State House insider has revealed.

The source, who requested anonymity, said Wario was to be prosecuted in 2017 but State House intervened and stopped Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) from arresting the former CS and former Sports Director, Richard Ekai.

The reason was the fear of possible political repercussions coming so close to the August 2017 vote.

On Monday DCI chief George Kinoti could not be reached for a comment on why it took almost two years to arrest and prosecute the suspects.

The source said the decision to revive the case was reached last week after Kinoti was informed of the pending case.

Hassan Wario and six others are facing crimes of stealing Sh 55 million during the Rio Olympics games.
