Tuesday October 23, 2018-Former Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale, has rekindled memories of the 2017 presidential election after he claimed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will declare Deputy President William Ruto President in 2022 whether he wins or loses in election.
Khalwale claimed the Government, which appoints IEBC commissioners, had already settled on who will become President and that IEBC will only confirm it in 2022, regardless of how Kenyans will vote.
Speaking at a fund-raising event in Kesses Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, Khalwale said he will not waste his time waiting for an official announcement from the IEBC because he knows Ruto will become President whether he wins election or not.
“Whether you defeat him (Ruto) or not, he will still be declared the winner.”
“Why should I wait to hear who the IEBC will announce as the winner when I know the outcome?” Khalwale posed.
He defended his decision to support Ruto's presidential ambition, arguing it is not a crime to work with the DP.
“Ruto is a person just like anyone else.”
“I want my party leader Moses Wetang'ula and his Amani National Congress (ANC) counterpart, Musalia Mudavadi, to also support Ruto and choose who they will rally as his running mate,” said Khalwale.
