Wednesday October 17, 2018-Deputy President William has been
forced to come clean on his multi-million Weston Hotel in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
Speaking through his lawyer, Ahmednassir Abdullahi,
Ruto noted that he acquired the land legally and begged President Uhuru
Kenyatta and Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko not bring down his hotel on pretext
that it stands on public land.
This is after the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA)
wrote to the National Land Commission (NLC) alleging Weston Hotel stands on its
land which was irregularly acquired by the DP.
Ahmednassir, who had appeared before National Lands Commission
in an effort to defend the DP’s acquisition of the plot on Lang’ata Road, also questioned
the commission’s jurisdiction to determine the ownership of the land whose
directors are Ruto, Rachel Chebet Kimeto and Charlene Chelagat Ruto.
Besides, Ruto’s lawyer denied his client had gotten the
land irregularly, saying no one had come forward to claim the property since it
was acquired.
“Our client is
not aware of any allegations of fraud or misrepresentation against him in
procuring the transfer and registration of the property.”
“In any event, if such an allegation were made, it
would be the duty of the person making such claims to prove it," Ahmednassir
said.
