MUTHAMA says Kenyans are not ready for a referendum just a year after elections! Says it is being pushed by greedy leaders like RAILA ODINGA

Friday October 5, 2018 - Former Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama, has opposed calls for a referendum saying Kenyans are not ready for a plebiscite.

Speaking at a burial in Kangundo on Thursday, Muthama said the referendum is only meant to benefit a few individuals at the expense of millions of Kenyans who pay hefty taxes to the Government.

"Constitutional amendment is not an emergency and it's obvious it's meant to benefit a few individuals who will reap big while Kenyans continue to suffer," Muthama said.

He said devolution is working hence reducing the number of Counties and constituencies wouldn't lessen the burden Kenyans have.

Muthama, however, said that he will support the referendum if only it allows for the hanging of those found guilty of corruption and defilement charges.

"I will only support the referendum if two things are considered, corrupt leaders and defilers are hanged after having their manhood chopped off," he said.
