Monday October 22, 2018-A Molo court has released the owners of a bus that killed 58 people in Fort Ternan road accident in Kericho County after he pleaded not guilty.

Bernard Ishihindu and Director of Western Cross Express Company Limited, Cleophas Shimanyula, were charged with illegal operation of night transport services without a permit and insurance.

However, the two pleaded not guilty to all counts of murder and were released on KSh 5 million bond each after spending a week in police custody.

It is understood that Shimanyula is a well connected man with a lot of resources. He is also a key stakeholder of Homeboyz football club which plays in the Kenya Premier League.

Survivors of the horrific accident recounted that the bus was overloaded and driven recklessly by a 70-year-old driver who did not heed to several calls from the passengers to slow down.
