Saturday October 13, 2018-Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP), Nordin Haji, has told High Court Judge, Jessie Lessit that he wants Migori Governor, Okoth Obado be sentenced to death over the murder of University of Rongo student, Sharon Otieno.
Making submission before the Judge on Friday, Haji who was represented by his deputy, Jacob Ondari said Obado planned and executed Sharon's murder with an aim of eliminating unborn baby who was likely to cause him political ridicule.
“We have established at this pre-trial that he was in constant communication with prime suspects and that he was at the murder scene,” Haji stated.
"The only justice the deceased's family can get it handing him death sentence. The constitution has not abolished death sentence. It's dangerous to grant him bail since he might compromise investigations,” Haji added.
Justice Lessit remanded Obado for more 12 days so that she can decide on his bail term.
