I had no candidate in Migori County by –election , I don’t know who is Oketch- Deputy President William Ruto says

Wednesday October 10, 2018-Deputy President William Ruto has dismissed claims that he was behind Federal Party of Kenya candidate, Eddy Oketch, in the just concluded Migori county senate by- election.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, David Mugonyi on Tuesday, Ruto said he did not understand why ODM and its leaders were dragging his name into everything.

He said the “the anti-Ruto spectacle in ODM is evidence of failure of reason and perspective".

“ODM has been driven by a consuming, hate-filled obsession with the Deputy President. They cannot understand it,” he said, adding that as a result, they have let their “worst impulses impel them from one terrible decision to another,” Ruto said.

During the campaigns preceding the Monday election, ODM leaders claimed that Ruto had funded Oketch who was giving ODM’s Ochillo Ayacko sleepless nights.

Ruto also dismissed claims that the by-election was a contest between him and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

“First and foremost neither Raila nor Ruto was on the ballot. Neither do we know the candidate who gave ODM a run for its money,” he said.

The Migori County by election was won by Ayacko.
