I did not say I will support RAILA ODINGA’s referendum - DP RUTO now clarifies what he meant barely a day after daring NASA to bring it on

Monday October 8, 2018 - Barely a day after announcing his conditional support for the proposed Constitutional amendments, which are being spearheaded by NASA leader, Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto has changed his tune again as he clarified that he will not be party to the ongoing referendum debate.

The DP made it clear that he does not have time for plebiscite talks and will not support any attempts to amend the Constitution with an aim of changing the governance structure as has been proposed by Raila.

He noted that there was no point wasting each other's time on the referendum issue and that those advocating for it should meet, agree and then tell Kenyans what they want changed in the Constitution.

“We do not have to waste each other's time.”

“Those pushing for a referendum should agree then tell us why they need the referendum for," Ruto said.

“For us, we will continue building roads, connection water and electricity.”

“But if it is about this issue of changing the Constitution so that someone can get a job, that they can look for foolish people to tell," he added.
