Thursday October 4, 2018 - Detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are planning to summon four individuals including a politician over the gruesome murder of Monica Kimani.

According to a detective who requested anonymity, the prime suspect in the case, Joseph Irungu, tried to make frantic calls to the four after killing Monica.

Others who will be summoned include a former radio presenter, a doctor and another friend whose occupation was not immediately clear.

The politician, who is from Central Kenya, has already been summoned by police and will be investigated before the end of the week.

Ms Kimani, 28, was murdered in her house on the night of September 19th and her body - with her throat slit from ear to ear, tape tied mouth and tied legs and hands - left in the bathtub with the water running.

Three suspects, Mr Irungu, his fiancé and TV anchor, Jacque Maribe, and businessman Brian Kassaine are in police custody under terms granted by a court in Kiambu.
