Chinese contractor is behind the Fort Ternan accident that left 56 dead – JUBILEE MP says

Thursday October 11, 2018-A vocal Jubilee Party legislator has said a Chinese contractor is behind the Wednesday morning accident at Fort Ternan that killed 56 people.

Addressing journalists at the scene of the accident, Kipkellion West MP, Hillary Kosgei, blamed Chinese contractor for handing the government an incomplete road.

“As we send messages of condolence to the bereaved families, we call on the Kenya National Highways Authority to redesign this road before things get worse,” Kosgei said.
“The road is incomplete, has no signage or markings. It is dangerous. Our disaster response is also poor,” Kosgei added.
Kosgei ‘s sentiments were echoed by his Belgut counterpart, Nelson Koech who said accidents had made families living downhill move to safer areas.
The two MPs also called for Kipkelion and Fort Ternan hospitals to be equipped with accident emergency units.
