CHILOBA deserves to be rotting in jail like OKOTH OBADO – CHEBUKATI tells DCI, DPP and EACC

Monday October 15,2018-Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman, Wafula Chebukati, has revealed that his CEO, Ezra Chiloba, was sacked over gross misconduct and blocking reforms at the commission.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Chebukati said Chiloba had on various occasions opposed an internal audit to ascertain the cost of the 2017 general election.

The chairman also revealed that he had written to the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the irregularities raised.

Chiloba was fired on Friday over alleged procurement irregularities during the 2017 general elections.

"It is now up to the DPP and the DCI to investigate and substantiate the claims. For my part, I am of the view that all those who are involved in any misdeals must be held accountable. Be it any staff or myself, they must be brought to book. Such people do not deserve to be called Kenyans, in fact, they must rot in jail,"Chebukati said.

Chebukati also noted that the commission has embarked on structured reforms and restructuring of its staff to ensure integrity in all that they do.
