Sunday October 21, 2022-Barely hours after landing a high flying job at African Union (AU), NASA leader, Raila Odinga, has left the country for the United States.

Raila departed from the country on the evening of Saturday, shortly after attending Mashujaa Day fete convened at Kakamega's Bukhungu stadium from where he announced his appointment by African Union Commission Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat, as High Representative of Infrastructure and Development in Africa.

The NASA leader is set to deliver a public lecture at the Duke University in North Carolina, USA.

Raila’s sudden trip to the US will coincide with the launch of direct flights from Kenya to the United States.

He is likely to be among the high delegation of Kenyan guests who will welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta once the first direct flight from Kenya to US touches down at John F Kennedy International Airport.

The inaugural flight to the US carrying President Uhuru Kenyatta will depart from Kenya on Sunday, October 28, making a remarkable 15 hours nonstop journey.
