RUTO shocks Kenyans as he urges MPs to allocate more money to the scandalous NYS despite the looting allegations

Wednesday August 1, 2018 - Deputy President William Ruto has urged Parliament to rethink its decision to reduce the budgetary allocation to the National Youth Service (NYS).

Speaking when he disbursed sh11.5million cheques to Uwezo Fund, Women Enterprise and National Government Affirmative Action funds beneficiaries, Ruto said that it was unfortunate that MPs have slashed the budgetary allocation to NYS while the institution is being expanded by President Uhuru Kenyatta to serve more young men and women.

“I urged MPs not to demonise NYS because of the challenges it has gone through.”

“There will be no more corruption in NYS, just give it enough money,” Ruto said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Margret Kobia, who urged Parliament not to punish the youths of Kenya because of some bad elements in NYS who are stealing public funds meant to help the youth.

Let’s not punish the youths for the mistakes of others.”

“There are 15,000 recruits in Gilgil and I assure you that NYS will soon be different,” Kobia said.
