Thursday August 9, 2018 - Kisumu County Assembly Speaker, Onyango Oloo, can now breathe a sigh of relief after Members of the County Assembly withdrew an impeachment motion against him.
This follows numerous phone calls from ODM leader, Raila Odinga, and the Orange Party headquarters in Nairobi.
The MCAs leading Oloo’s impeachment campaign were said to have retreated in haste after they were warned by the bosses through phone calls not to go through with the impeachment.
Led by Market Milimani MCA, Seth Kanga, the MCAs had endorsed the impeachment motion against Oloo and had planned to table it in the County Assembly on Tuesday afternoon before they received strange calls.
The MCAs accused Oloo of mismanaging the assembly and were also unhappy with his plans to rent premises for County Assembly staff.
However, Oloo dismissed the allegations as untrue.
