RAILA ODINGA ODM’s calls for the prosecution of greedy MPS who were bribed to with sh 10,000 each to throw out the sugar report

Tuesday August 14, 2018 - The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called for the arrest and prosecution of MPs who were bribed to drop the report on contraband sugar.
Last week, over 150 MPs from both Jubilee and National Super Alliance (NASA) were bribed with Sh 10,000 each to reject a report that had recommended for the arrest of Treasury CS, Henry Rotich, his industrialisation counterpart, Aden Mohamed, and former Agriculture CS, Willy Bett, over the importation of poisonous sugar.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, ODM’s National Treasurer, Timothy Bosire, said it is a shame for MPs who are representatives of Kenyans to be bribed by sugar barons.

Bosire, who is also the immediate former Kitutu Masaba South MP, said the MPs who took bribes should be arrested and prosecuted.

“It is shameful that Kenyans elected leaders last year and sent them to Parliament to fill their stomachs.”

“The MPs who were bribed to throw out the sugar report must be arrested to face prosecution," Bosire said.

The former lawmaker called on the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) and Director of Public Prosecutions to move with speed and prosecute the MPs who engaged in corruption.

"MPs should stop frustrating President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fight against impunity in the country.”

“It is time EACC and the DPP to prosecute the MPs who accepted bribes since no one is above the law," Bosire noted.
