Saturday August 18, 2018 - Politics took centre stage at the burial of former Cabinet Minister, Henry Obwocha, at his Siranga home in Nyamira County yesterday when leaders revisited the 2017 disputed Presidential elections.

It all started when NASA leader, Raila Odinga, narrated the events leading to the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's election victory, noting that some unnamed people scuttled the Opposition’s journey to the Promised Land.

"When we reached River Jordan on our way to Canaan, we discovered there were crocodiles right in there but that is water under the bridge now.”

“You all know what happened after we proceeded to the Supreme Court," he said amidst thunderous applause from mourners.

However, when he stood up to speak, Deputy President William Ruto was not amused by Raila’s analogy.

He asked the NASA leader to accept defeat and to embrace democratic ideals and respect decisions made by Kenyans during elections.

“Let’s be democratic and respect decisions made by Kenyans during elections.”

“We went to elections last year looking for positions in different political parties and that Kenyans finally made their choices on the Government and leaders they wanted.”

“We should respect their decisions,” said Ruto.
