It is UHURU/ RUTO who bribed MPs with sh 10,000 to reject the sugar report, FATUMA GEDI was just a conduit - ODM Senator

Friday August 17, 2018 - A vocal Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Senator has revealed the individuals who bribed over 150 MPs with Sh 10,000 last week to reject the report on contraband sugar.
The report which was tabled in Parliament by Kieni MP, Kanini Kega, had recommended for the prosecution of CSs, Henry Rotich, Aden Mohamed and Willy Bett for authorizing mass importation of sugar.

But when the report was being discussed in Parliament, MPs threw it out saying it did meet the required threshold.

Speaking during a show on Citizen TV, Homa Bay Senator, Otieno Kajwang, claimed that the Government bribed the MPs to reject the report to save two Cabinet Secretaries in the middle of importation of contraband and harmful sugar.

“Now that we know who the bribed are, who is the briber?”

“My appeal to MPs is instead of fighting each other and everyone trying to look good, let us focus on the source of that money because it came from the Executive," Kajwang said.

The ODM Senator further accused the National Assembly of doing a shoddy job and asked the Senate to investigate the matter.

"If the Senate came into this, it would broaden its scope - It would not only look at the issue of the Gazette notice, health but also privatisation of sugar mills, COMESA, incentives to sugar farmers and which way forward for sugar," Kajwang said.
