It is all systems go as short-handed CHEBUKATI conducts Baringo South by-election all by himself! No CHILOBA to spoil things

Friday August 17, 2018 - People of Baringo South went to polls today to elect another Member of Parliament following the demise of their MP, Grace Kipchoim.

The by-election is being overseen by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) despite being short-handed following the resignation of several commissioners.

Speaking today, IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and Commissioner Professor Abdi Guliye said everything is in order and as a commission they assured people of Baringo South and the Country as a whole of credible elections in Baringo South.

Chebukati also assured the electorate that the process will be free, fair and credible.

"We travelled all the way from Nairobi to oversee the ongoing by-election.”

“The commission has arranged for everything and polling will go on well," said Chebukati.

He also confirmed that there will be no live transmission of results and Presiding Officers in all 132 polling stations will be required to avail the results at the tallying station.

“Presiding Officers will be required to travel and bring results to the tallying station," he said.
