FATUMA GEDI thrown out as KEWOPA chairperson for bribing MPs in the toilet with sh 10,000 each to reject sugar report

Thursday August 16, 2018 - Wajir County Women Representative, Fatuma Gedi, has been removed as the Chair of Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) over bribery allegations.
Gedi was mentioned last week as the MP who bribed other legislators to reject the report on contraband sugar.

She was bribing MPs with Sh 10,000 each to reject the report that had indicted CSs, Henry Rotich, Aden Mohamed and Willy Bett.

But Ms Gedi has since denied the allegations saying that it was shameful that individuals making hundreds of thousands could be compromised with a meager Sh10,000.

“I’m really shocked by the allegation levelled against me by some MPs that I tried to comprised them with sh 10,000.”

“That’s a blatant lie, unfounded and malicious at every sense of the word.”

“That claim is a disgrace to the respected House Members and the Parliament at large,” she said.

She is said to have received the money from Diamond Wholesalers in Eastleigh because it had been mentioned as among the wholesalers that had imported contraband sugar into the country.
